How We Research
Every guide on Freds Bed starts with one question: will this product fit your bed, your room and the way you plan to use it? For an adjustable base, that means checking mattress compatibility, space, controls and setup. For bedding, it means fit, materials and care.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with fit and everyday use
A base that does not fit your mattress or bedroom is the wrong choice. Sheets that slip on a split adjustable bed, or a headboard without a compatible mount, can also make daily use harder.
We check sizes, mattress and base compatibility, clearance, weight limits, assembly needs and how products are meant to be used. For pillows, toppers and protectors, we consider sleeping position, feel, thickness, coverage and care instructions.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at the details makers provide: base positions, motors, remote functions, power needs, frame construction, mattress materials, fabric and fill, dimensions, and what comes in the box.
Makers describe their products in their own words, so we name the brand for each claim. We also note the warranty terms and compatibility guidance the maker lists.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read what buyers report after using a product. We look for patterns, such as noisy motors, confusing setup, remotes that lose connection, mattresses that bunch when adjusted, or sheets that do not stay in place.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A base for frequent position changes may suit one reader, while another may care more about simple controls, mattress fit or a tight bedroom layout.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change, and some disappear from stores. Makers sell close models under similar names, so we check each model name, its listed features and what comes in the box, and we only link new units.
We skip unknown brands with no track record and any product with a known recall. When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not hands-on tests. We don't claim to have used every product we cover.
We don't give medical advice. Ask a qualified health professional for guidance about whether a sleep product is appropriate for your needs.
